Reported by: Ericka English Wednesday, Dec 10, 2008 @10:46am CST There was no need for Periann Forney to sit on Santa's lap at this year's holiday party for the Department of Family and Protective Services. She says she already has all she wants for Christmas.
"I enjoy being a foster parent. I never thought I'd adopt, but they won my heart," Forney said. She began fostering children in 1999. In 2006 she committed her life to two children. She adds, "what motivated me to adopt is, I had these children for two years, and I didn't want to lose them." Ladejah told our Marquel Sennet, she is just as excited about her new family as her new mom. "Are you glad your mom took you into her home?" Marquel asked. "Yes." Ladejah replied. "How does it make you feel?" "Happy," said Ladejah. The six-year-old says she enjoys her new mom because she does everything mommies should do, even at bed time. She adds, "She helps us, she feeds us, and makes us go to bed." Not to mention fun outings which her brother, eight-year-old Ladaris enjoys. Periann says there is no joy like a child's love. "If i wasn't so old, I'd adopt some more [children.] I thank God for them." She encourages anyone who can adopt to do the same. If you'd like to adopt a child, call the Department of Family and Protective Service at (409) 951-3351. |
