Weekday Morning Meteorologist. Nick Kosir joined the KBTV news team in October 2008 as a morning meteorologist on “4-Today.” Nick is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from The University of Akron’s school of communication in May 2005. It was at The University of Akron where Nick began his broadcasting career at the young age of 17. As a freshman he became a member of WZIP-FM, which is known as the #1 rated college-run radio station in the U.S. He was also a member of The University of Akron’s television program. Nick co-hosted an entertainment news show called “The Lowdown” which won two national awards for “Best low budget production” and “Best Entertainment show.”
After graduation Nick moved to New York City for an internship with MTV’s XM satellite radio station. After one week of living in the big city, he auditioned for and earned the role of co-host on a Brooklyn based television show called “Neighborhood Beat.” Nick also worked for VH1's “Hip Hop Honor’s” award show as a transcriber/Production Assistant. He enjoyed his time in NYC and describes it as, “One of the greatest experiences of my life.” However, after deciding to pursue a career in news, he moved back to Ohio.
Nick was then hired at WMFD-TV out of Mansfield, Ohio as a general assignment reporter, and one year later he became a weather forecaster. During Nick’s time in Ohio he covered all kinds of weather: flooding, tornadoes and even blizzards!
As a self-proclaimed “cold-weather fan,” Nick says he will miss the snow and cooler temperatures he left back in Ohio. However, he can’t wait to wake up with southeast Texas each and every morning with the help of Ericka English, Mike McNeill, and several cans of Red Bull!
In his spare time, Nick enjoys hanging out with friends, listening to music, and watching his favorite movie “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy.”
