Reported by: Ericka English Thursday, Apr 9, 2009 @09:36am CDT A local organization is bringing attention to who they call "the forgotten children" in foster care. The Black Adoption Council is making sure minority children aren't left out in the process.
The BAC has sponsored the event for nine years. Elenor Johnson says their sole purpose is to encourage families to adopt minority children. Johnson says, "[we don't want] minority children to linger in the foster care system." To ensure they don't, the council helps families with adoption fees and other necessities. It hosts events like Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt to bring attention to the issue. "We want them to have the same morals and values as if they were in their own families," she replied. If you have room in your heart for for a child call the Department of Family and Protective Services at (409) 951-3351. |
