Reported by: Ericka English Wednesday, Jul 8, 2009 @12:03pm CDT A brother and sister are praying for a happy ending after being without a family for five years.
12-year-old Devonte was featured on Hearts Without Homes about a year ago, looking for someone to cheer him on as he plays basketball, baseball and football. But now his younger sister, Abrasha joins him in the search for a forever family. Although her dream is to be a cheerleader, they both need parents in their corner. "Why do you feel lonely?” I asked Abrasha while sitting in a Groves park, her brother at her side. “Because all my other friends have a family and I don't." Through it all, the two are still fortunate to have the one another. While Abrasha prefers math and reading class, Devonte excels in every subject. The two share the same outlook on more siblings. That is, the more, the merrier. But until they find a place to call home, they'll continue to depend on the other to get by. If you have room in your heart for Devonte and Abrasha, call the Department of Family and Protective Services at 409.951.3351. |
