In a surprise decision the BISD board rejected two of the superintendents recommendations for district positions.

Dr. Carrol Thomas had submitted the names of two men for the positions of Smith Middle School Principal, and the district's Chief Financial Officer.

Thursday evening the board met in executive session to discuss Thomas' recommendations. Communications Director Jessie Haynes tells Fox 4 the board turned down Dr. Thomas' suggestions in a 5-2 vote.

The names of the two candidates have not been released.
