Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain confirms he's switching from being a Democrat to being a Republican.

He'll make a formal announcement Wednesday afternoon at 1:30.

Cain will join other Hardin County elected officials who'll make the same announcement that day, including Hardin County Judge Billy Caraway.

Sheriff Cain tells Fox 4 he put in a lot of thought into this decision, and looked into many numbers.

He says those numbers show that the Hardin County population has become more Republican.

Cain says the party switch won't change anything about the person he is. He says he'll still have support from both sides of the political aisle.

He says an overwhelming number of people have been urging him to make this party switch.
