The search for a missing Dayton man, who disappeared in high water, has been called off for the night.

Dayton police say 47-year-old Gene Roberts was helping friends gather cattle from the Trinity River bottom Sunday afternoon.

They say Roberts rode his horse into high water, and hasn't been seen since.

The horse was found at around 10:00 Sunday night.

The search for Roberts will continue at daybreak.
