  • 11/4 Oscar Ortiz Running For Port Arthur Mayor In 2010
    Reported by: Angel San Juan

    Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @03:21pm CST

Former Port Arthur mayor Oscar Ortiz tells Fox 4 he's ready for a comeback.

Ortiz plans to run for the city's top job again in May 2010.

Ortiz served on city council for 12 years. Nine of those years he was mayor.

He had to step aside three years ago because of term limits. That's when Deloris Prince became mayor.

After sitting out a term, Ortiz can run again.

Ortiz says he's running because he's disappointed in the direction of the city.

He says there's no harmony on council. He says there are already four council members who have pledged their support.

Ortiz says he'll work on attracting more businesses to Port Arthur. He says it's important to diversify the city's economy.

He plans to make a formal announcement about his candidacy on November 16th at city hall.

Mayor Prince plans on running for re-election.
