A total of seven elected officials parted ways with the Democratic party. They say the Republican Party is more in line with their own views.

Over 100 Hardin County residents attended the meeting. Most of them supported the change. Several officials said it wasn't an easy decision for them.

They say they agree with many of the Republican platforms. This includes limited government, low taxation and the right to carry a gun.

They add the change was something they've been considering for a while.
