Reported by: Marquel Sennet Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @08:58pm CST In Southeast drunk driving is on the rise. Last year alone 99 people were killed in our area in alcohol related crashes.
Two families want people to think before they drink and get behind the wheel. James Lee's daughter and her unborn child were both killed in March 2007 in a wreck caused by a drunk driver. Kaegen and Keith Bass' father was severly injured last month in an accident caused by an alleged drunk driver. The accident left him with a fractured neck, a broken shin and forearm and swelling of his brain. Paul Bass has already undergone five surgeries and still has two more. James Lee's family have been through a long ordeal since his daughter's death. Lee say's he lost weight and it put a toll on his marriage. Both families hope their own tragedies will teach others an important lesson about drinking and driving. Donations for Paul Bass are being accepted at Neches Federal Credit Union. The account number is 35305. On November 18th the Chili's in Port Arthur will donate 10% of the sales from each customer that mentions Paul Bass. |
