Second place winner: (Renae Andreu)
Carol Alberto

My mother means so much to me because she is the greatest woman I know. Since I
have become a mother myself I now see just how deep a mother's love is for her
child. I feel that anyone who has had the chance to embrace a friendship with
my mother will truly be touched by the love that she gives. You will never hear
her say an ugly word about anyone or anything no matter what the situation. She
will always see the glass half full! Her actions have taught me to be a
devoted wife, loving mother, and a best friend. I am privileged to say that
this wonderful woman is my best friend and I am honored to be her daughter. I
pray that as I grow older I will continue to become my mother.
Susan Horelica

My mom is the greatest mother in the world. She has always been there for me not
matter what and in every way possible. She is not only my mom but also my best
friend. She has 3 grandsons that are her world and she is theirs too. She should
win this because she deserves to be recognized and always puts every one else
first so now its her turn to be #1!!! I could never ask for a better mother
because I got the best one ever created!!!
Renae Andreu

This wonderful woman did not give birth to me. She is my Aunt, or as we call
her, Nae Nae. No one on in my Dad's immediate family has a mother. She IS our
mother. My younger cousin's lost their mom when they were babies, my
grandmother passed soon after that. My mother passed in November of 2005. Now
she's all I have. She is the one we cry to or laugh with. And she is the one
with us every step of the way in our lives. She doesn't have any of her own
children, she has 1 step-daughter and her 4 nieces, and she introduces us all as
"HER girls". It feels nice to have a strong woman in your life call you her
daughter after your real mother has passed. She is not only a mother figure to
me, she is also my best friend I tell her everything and anything and she gives
the best advice I know. She deserves more than anyone I know to get this, not
because she's a good mom, because she didn't have to be a mom, she CHOSE to be a
mom when she started taking care of us. !
Like I always tell her, God
didn't give her any children of her own because he knew he was going to have to
take mine and my cousin's mom away, he knew she would have 4 nieces plopped into
her lap whether she wanted us or not! Even though my mother is gone, God
replaced her, not fully you could never replace my mother, but he made sure I
had someone that loved me just like she did, who would take care of me just like
she did, and who would gripe at me...just like she did!
